Ancient Tabernacle Of Roman Origin 17th Century.

Antique marbled wood tabernacle of Roman origin, dating back to the second half of the 17th century.

The front features four marbled white wooden columns topped with gilded wooden capitals.

In the central section, a door depicts a chalice surmounted by the monogram "IHS" (from the Greek Iesus Hominum Salvador, "Jesus, Savior of mankind") surrounded by rays, symbolizing the Eucharist and the presence of Christ.

Below the shelf, a dense gilded wood carving depicts ears of corn with a basket of flowers.

The back and the top still have the original period backgrounds.

Origin: Rome, 17th century.
