Paperweight In The Shape Of A Dragon's Helmet, Gilt Bronze And Ebony, Early 19th Century
Empire-style paperweight depicting a mercury-gilt bronze dragoon officer's helmet, with an ebony or blackened wood base, early 19th century, Restoration period. The chasing is of very high quality (the dragon is easily recognizable with its mouth and tail; the matte and burnished details on the helmet are exceptionally fine), as is the matte and burnished mercury gilding. It is in very good condition. The mercury gilding is very fresh and shows no wear. Length: 10.5 cm Width: 6 cm Height: 6.5 cm
