Art Nouveau Silver Pendant By Leroyer, Satyr Mask
A silver chain with a silver pendant in the shape of a satyr mask, by Louis Leroyer (hallmarked in 1912).
Signed "Leroyer" on the reverse.
Louis Leroyer's more frequently encountered works are, on the one hand, finely crafted Art Nouveau bronzes (bowls, trays, desk sets, trinket trays, etc.), and on the other hand, Art Nouveau and Art Deco jewelry with more "classic" motifs than this cheerful, finely chiseled satyr.
Boar's head hallmark and silversmith's mark on the reverse of the attachment integrated into the mask.
Antique silver chain with a curb link; the metal spring clasp has been replaced.
Circa 1915.
