"Pair Of Uranium Glass Candlesticks, Napoleon III Era, 19th Century, Chandelier, Neo-renaissance"
Antique and superb pair of candlesticks in uranium glass, the famous "uranium glass." A beautiful, luminous yellowish-green color with striking reflections. Slender, subtly twisted silhouette. The base is richly decorated with scrolls and Baroque motifs in the Neo-Renaissance style. A very fine piece by Portieux from the second half of the 19th century, in a particularly rare uranium glass color. Height: 24 cm. Very good condition. Uranium glass gets its fluorescent green hue from the uranium oxide formerly used in its composition. Appearing in the 19th century, this glassware was already captivating for its luminous effects, revealing a spectacular fluorescence under ultraviolet light. Today, these unique pieces appeal to collectors for their beauty, rarity, and the historical aura surrounding them.
