Adolphe Frédéric Lejeune "a Luminous Breakthrough In The Heart Of The Forest"
Artist: Adolphe Frédéric Lejeune
Barbizon School. Oil on canvas, "Bright Opening in the Forest," signed lower right AF Lejeune. French School. 55 x 36 cm (53.3 x 34 cm). Adolphe Frédéric Lejeune (1849-1913) was a student of Léon Germain Pelouse (1838-1891) and Léon Bonnat (1833-1922). He exhibited at the Salon from 1879. A talented artist who clearly learned from his masters. Our painting is a fine example of what painters like Camille Corot (1796-1875) and Gustave Courbet (1819-1877), among others, contributed to the art of painting by initiating an innovative artistic movement: plein air painting. The masterpieces that emerged from this movement continue to delight us today. The frame is made of wood and gilt stucco with a modern patina. There is a network of craquelure, but it does not detract from the overall impression of the work. Good condition. 1100 euros.
