"Meissen - Les Cris De Paris, Ticket Seller"
Meissen porcelain figurine from the "Cries of Paris" series, ticket seller (Losverkäufer). Model created by Peter Reinicke between 1753 and 1754. Marked with blue crossed swords and numbered 60236, 20th century, height: 15 cm. Listed in the Meissen Bergmann catalogue, "History of the Cries of Paris." The book describes street criers as a public service under royal authority. Men, women, and children walked the streets, calling out their wares or services to attract customers. Each trade had its own characteristic cry. Meissen drew inspiration from these trades and created a series of 34 figurines featuring these characters.
