A pioneering work in the field of tropical medicine, published by the author (1611-1678), a Dutch physician who remained in Brazil during the Dutch occupation of Pernambuco, 10 years after the publication of his Historia Naturalis Brasiliae. Includes, in the last part, a text and references to Garcia da Orta.
Condition: A study book, lacking the allegorical frontispiece, engraved in a sweet-cut and with numerous holes of moth that pierce the whole volume, without ever harming the reading. It is, however, full of text and retains the more than six hundred figures that illustrate it. Binding recent, entire parchment. Some foxing. Sabin, 63029.
