"Chinese Six-panel Screen – Carved Wood And Lacquered Panels – Late 19th Century"
An elegant six-panel Chinese screen, dating from the late 19th century, showcasing remarkable carving and lacquer work. Each panel features a rich and typical design of late Qing dynasty art. Each design is unique. The upper section consists of relief-carved cartouches, highlighted in shades of red, dark green, and black, depicting traditional decorative motifs. In the center of each panel, an oval figurative scene is finely inlaid on a wooden background: figures, scenes of daily life, and narrative elements, surrounded by delicate openwork of geometric meanders. The lower section features black lacquered panels, adorned with exquisitely engraved and gilded floral and bird motifs. The original brass hinges ensure stability and smooth opening. The piece boasts a beautiful patina, with signs of age consistent with its age, and an authentic decorative charm.
