This is a chaise longue, known as the Récamier model. It dates from the Empire period, at the very beginning of the 19th century. It features a gilt sphinx motif and claw feet. It is chic and elegant with beautiful gilding. This type of furniture, considered quintessentially French, is now virtually impossible to find. Overall, it is in good condition, with a small area of missing caning (which has since been replaced). There are also typical signs of wear and tear.
