Bruges 1785, Pair Of Louis XVI Candlesticks, Gaspard Hanicq, Sterling Silver
A very elegant pair of Louis XVI period candlesticks in solid silver, bearing the Bruges hallmarks for 1785. They also bear the maker's mark of Gaspard Hanicq, who became a master silversmith in 1778 after apprenticing with Pieter Dethieu, a renowned silversmith with a significant body of work. In 1785, Gaspard Hanicq was the dean of the Bruges guild. The hallmarks are perfectly legible on both pieces. The candlesticks are richly decorated with all the hallmarks of the Louis XVI style. They weigh approximately 710 grams.
