Pair Of Gilt Bronze Candlesticks By Claude Galle
A pair of candlesticks known as "with the marvels," attributed to Claude Galle (1759-1815), in chased and gilded bronze. Early 19th-century work. The truncated conical stem is surmounted by three back-to-back female heads. The stem is decorated with garlands of foliage and spiral gilt fillets, terminating in three pairs of feet on gadrooned circular bases. The upper part features a circular, foliate socket. The original gilding is in perfect condition.
