CARPENTIER Louis-Charles, Large Bergère, Stamped, Louis XV Period, Circa 1760. Sumptuous and large bergère in natural wood, Louis XV period, resting on cabriole legs ending in scrolls. This bergère, with a violin-shaped and slightly inclined back, is upholstered in a pretty fabric with a floral design, finished with passementerie trim, as well as its seat cushion. Its armrests have cuffs, resting on shaped arm supports. Its undulating seat rail is highlighted with finely molded decoration. Beautiful patina. It bears the stamp LC CARPENTIER on its back rail. A piece of furniture of exceptional quality, with clean and elegant lines, stamped by the renowned Parisian master cabinetmaker, Louis-Charles CARPENTIER, who became a master in 1752. This bergère armchair combines practical utility, thanks to its wide, enveloping shape and generously padded seat cushion, with a sublime visual appeal thanks to its harmonious and delicate curves. Having become a master in 1752, he established his workshop on Rue de Cléry, where he worked until 1779. One of his most regular clients was the Prince of Condé, for whom he supplied numerous Louis XVI style chairs, mostly in molded and gilded wood, finely carved. He later became the preferred cabinetmaker of Duke Philippe d'Orléans, who commissioned significant furniture for his various residences. Louis XV period, 18th century, circa 1760.
