P. Conti (19th-20th Century) Large Art Deco Marble Sculpture
Important Art Deco sculpture circa 1910-20 in Carrara marble, signed P. CONTI (20th century). A beautiful Symbolist composition, carved directly from the stone, depicting a young, nude woman seated on a rock, evoking Venus emerging from her bath. Her naiad-like body is elegantly curled in an intimate pose, her hair gathered in a chignon, revealing an angelic face in the manner of classical Greek sculpture. The technical mastery of this late 19th-century Florentine artist is evident in the highly virtuosic carving; the details of the sculpture and the purity of the marble testify to the artist's talent and precision. In very good condition. Dimensions: 44 cm high x 37 cm long x 25 cm deep / Weight: 22 kg.
