"Empire Period Caryatid Lamp"
Empire period Caryatid Lamp. The sphinxes represent Napoleon's emblem. His return from Egypt then presents us with all his crusades. The sheath-shaped lamp rests on feet decorated with lotus flowers, in the center a palmette on a pyramidal motif raised on a base adorned with acanthus leaves, all on a background chiseled with dots. In the upper sections, the caryatids are adorned with framed, draped jewels, all surmounted by a floral garland. The candle-shaped top features tar, interlaced palmettes, and fluting, all in a technique that was not yet fully developed. The sandblasted tulip recalls this same transparent decoration: acanthus leaf, cartouche, palmette on a lozenge-shaped background; The bronze mount holds a sandblasted tulip topped with a pine cone. The base rests on a foliate frieze adorned with the Templar cross. The whole is framed by a laurel wreath. Electrically rewired, screw-in bulb. Delivery possible but not included in the price.
