A rare Empire period mahogany secretary desk with four columns surmounted by gilt bronze Corinthian capitals. The drop-front is adorned with a substantial bronze sculpture depicting a museum. The interior is of exceptional quality and beauty, echoing the facade. It features drawers, a mirrored interior, secret compartments, and a leather writing surface. The lower section has two doors with drawers inside (in the English style). A drawer in the upper section has a frieze and gilt bronze pull knobs. The marble top rests on black wood feline paws. Luxury and quality define this rare early 19th-century secretary desk. H 146 x 103 x 48 cm
