Le Tour du monde, nouveau journal des voyages ou journal des voyages et des voyageurs (1860-1914) was a French weekly magazine founded in January 1860 by Édouard Charton, creator of Le Magasin pittoresque, and published by Hachette. The magazine recounted the great explorations of the globe by Western travelers at the end of the 19th and 20th centuries, before the First World War. It featured travel narratives of high literary quality, illustrated by some of the most remarkable illustrators and wood engravers, "Illustrated by our most celebrated artists." This is the first edition, with contemporary bindings, numerous and remarkable illustrations in the text, raised bands on the spine with gilt lettering, and gilt edges.
