"Pair Of Glazed Ceramic Figures – Italy, In The Style Of Chinese Foo Dogs "
A set of two decorative ceramic sculptures, created in the spirit of Chinese Foo dogs, reinterpreted here in an expressive, colorful, and whimsical style. Signed by The Sea-Gull Capri workshop, they likely date from the 1950s–1970s. The figures feature polychrome glazing on a crackled base. The highly expressive modeling and the chromatic palette (white, cobalt blue, yellow, red) give these pieces a distinctive character and a strong presence. The two sculptures are mounted on openwork molded bases, painted gold, and signed on one side. Particular attention is paid to detail: small dogs, tongues sticking out, wide eyes… everything evokes a free-spirited craftsmanship, somewhere between humor, folklore, and decorative tradition.
