Palais Royal, Desvignes, 2 Luxurious Small Toiletry Bottles, Circa 1820
Two beautiful blown crystal glasses with a cobalt blue background, decorated in the workshops of the renowned JB Desvignes, recognizable by his garlands of bright and matte gold, interspersed with flowers and fruit enameled in shades of gray.
Glass is thick and heavy, and both pieces are very good condition.
Jean-Baptiste Desvignes (1786-1826), active during the French Restoration period in galleries of Palais Royal, this crystal painter, famous for his opaline glass, was also renowned for his gilding skills. (The workshop continued for a few years after the artist's death.)
8cm high, 5.8cm diameter.
