Large Haviland Limoges porcelain figure by Jean-Jacques Prolongeau, 1950s. Jean-Jacques Prolongeau (1917-1994) was a French artist, both a painter and a ceramicist. Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux, he collaborated with Raoul Dufy in the 1940s, notably on earthenware creations. Director of the art schools in Perpignan and then Limoges, he contributed to the revival of contemporary ceramics in France, working with earthenware, stoneware, and porcelain. His work, characterized by figurative and poetic themes, is now found in several public and private collections.
