Sèvres Vases With A Cobalt Blue Base, Mounted On Tripartite Supports
G. Poitevin. This piece bears the characteristic marks of the Royal Sèvres Manufactory, one of the most prestigious French porcelain manufacturers, founded in the 18th century and renowned worldwide for the finesse of its creations and the exceptional quality of its decoration. The blue stamp "SÈVRES 1844," surmounted by a crown and a monogram, indicates production dating from 1844, during the reign of Louis-Philippe I (King of the French from 1830 to 1848). This type of crowned mark identifies a royal or state commission, executed in the official workshops of the manufactory. The monogram "F" corresponds to the signature of Louis-Philippe, used on certain royal series. During this period, pieces intended for the Court often bore the initials "LP" or "F," depending on their purpose and use. The red stamp "CHÂTEAU DES TUILERIES" attests that this porcelain was specially designed for the Tuileries Palace in Paris, the official residence of the French sovereigns until its destruction in 1871. This mark confirms that the object belonged to a royal table service, made for the needs of the Court of France.
