"Manufacture Léon Sazerat 1831-1891, Limoges Circa 1880"
A rare Japanese-style jardinière in underglaze-painted earthenware, decorated on each side with a lakeside landscape in the Japanese style, each side adorned with a high-relief elephant head. The form, borrowed from the Asian repertoire, perfectly integrates the decoration of this jardinière. All in all, a perfectly executed creation by Léon Sazerat. Circa 1880. Note: his production of underglaze-painted earthenware earned him a gold medal at the Paris Exhibition in 1878. Our jardinière is an example of his creations using this technique.
