Small Transition Period Commode Stamped Fromageau Jme
A small and elegant Louis XV-Louis XVI transitional period commode in rosewood marquetry with amaranth borders. A Greek key frieze in holly wood is highlighted by boxwood stringing. The original locks are functional. The key has been remade. It bears the stamp of JB FROMAGEAU and the guild mark. The piece has been fully restored and French polished. The original light gray marble top has undergone a very well-executed restoration. Jean-Baptiste Fromageau - Cabinetmaker. Paris. Master on November 5, 1755. In 1755, he resided on rue Traversière, where he remained for another twelve years before moving his workshops to rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine.
