Pair Of Beautiful Armchairs With Frames Stamped By L. Cresson, Dating From The 18th Century
A pair of beautiful flat-backed armchairs, à la Reine, in richly molded and carved natural walnut with floral motifs and clasps, featuring cabriole legs. A very elegant model, the molded back. One of the armchairs is stamped L. CRESSON for Louis Cresson, master craftsman, January 29, 1738. Two small feet are grafted on. The walnut has a beautiful blond patina. The frames are upholstered in red and yellow embossed velvet. Louis Cresson came from a family of cabinetmakers. His production was not very extensive; he made Louis XV style chairs with great finesse of execution, often featuring rich carvings. He worked for the Duke of Burgundy, grandson of Louis XV.
