"Early 17th Century Painted Walnut Chest"
Elegant
carved and painted solid walnut chest. The chest has a rectangular shape, with
bracketed feet, a projecting top, and a molded band. The top opens, revealing
ample storage space. Its distinctive feature lies in the painted decorations,
which enhance its elegance, with intertwined plant motifs on a red and yellow
background, still reminiscent of the Renaissance. This piece, likely used as a
wardrobe or wedding chest, can furnish any room with refinement and a touch of
antiquity. Made in Emilia (Emilia-Romagna, Italy), from the Louis XIV period,
around the early 17th century.
