"Mammoth Tooth On A Pedestal"
Very large fossilized mammoth tooth on a custom base. The mammoth was a large, hairy mammal that lived during the Ice Age and is related to the elephant. It adapted to the cold climate thanks to its thick fur, layers of fat, and curved tusks. Around 10,000 years ago, most mammoths became extinct, probably due to climate change and hunting by humans. A few isolated populations, such as those on Wrangel Island, survived for thousands more years. Most mammoth fossils are found in Siberia, Alaska, Canada, and Northern Europe, where permafrost has exceptionally well preserved their remains.
