This moonlit landscape with travelers was executed around 1800 by a follower of Adam Elzheimer (1578 Frankfurt am Main - 1610 Rome), an important German Baroque painter of the early 17th century. Due to his premature death and slowness, exacerbated by depression, he left few works. To date, 40 paintings and 30 drawings and gouaches are known.
