"Clément Massier: Large Iridescent Ceramic Vase - Circa 1885"

Clément Massier, in Golfe Juan, circa 1880-1890. Fabulous and imposing iridescent ceramic vase, signed at the base "Clément Massier - Golfe Juan A.M.", from the Art Nouveau period. Perfect condition: not a chip, not a crack! Spectacular dimensions: 37 cm high, 11 cm diameter at the neck, 22 cm diameter at the base. The "master of iridescence," as he was known, offers us here a magnificent model in petrol-blue hues, in shades of purple, pink, and green, depicting seaweed rising up the body. The material is not uniform (notably, an excess of undulating material is visible at the base), making it a truly unique piece with captivating charm, its colors changing depending on the light! Clément MASSIER's distinctiveness lies as much in the innovative iridescence process (which only LOETZ and Louis Comfort TIFFANY would manage to equal) as in the timelessness of his works!
