Important garden fountain in patinated terracotta representing an allegory of summer. It consists of a young woman in a drape falling over her legs, wearing a crown of wheat and carrying a jar. At her side, a dolphin's head forming a spout and, in the lower part, a cornucopia forming a basin. Our fountain rests on its original terracotta base. Period circa 1920. Signature at the bottom of the sculpture, on the right, Ezio CECCARELI. Excellent condition. Total height: 193 cmWidth: 86 cmDepth: 48 cmEzio Ceccarelli (27/07/1865, Montecatini Val di Cecina - 27/12/1927, Volterra) is an Italian sculptor, student at the Florentine Academy of Rivalta and Bortone, president of the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence, honorary professor of the Academy of Fine Arts of Boulogne and, for 30 years, teacher at the Industrial Artistic School of Volterra. He received numerous awards and medals. He participated in the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1900 and that of 1904. Ezio Ceccarelli creates expressive human figures, portraits and allegories, as our fountain testifies.
