Description Having settled in Paris in the late 1940s, Hanna Ben-Dov quickly became part of the avant-garde art scene.

Close to Constantin Brancusi, she actively participated in the Second School of Paris, alongside Joan Mitchell, Jean Degottex, Zao Wou-Ki, Jacques Yankel, Tal Coat and Reginald Pollack.

Her work is part of the tradition of lyrical abstraction, where gesture, light, and transparency become the true subjects of the composition. Each ink drawing reveals a refined sense of rhythm and space, expressed through a pictorial language that is both poetic and meditative. Ben-Dov exhibited in several major Parisian galleries between the 1950s and 1970s, notably at Galerie Cinq Mars (1960) and Galerie de l'Abbaye (1974).

She also participated in group exhibitions at Largentière in 1960, alongside the great abstract painters of her generation. The works presented here date from the 1960s, a decisive period during which the artist explored the expressive potential of ink and wash on paper. Each piece testifies to her subtle research into movement, trace, and the breathing of the medium. Her works on paper from this decade are particularly rare on the market.

Created in the privacy of her studio, they reflect the freedom of gesture and the luminous quest that characterized the most accomplished period of her career. At once fresh and contemplative, these works fully embody the spirit of the New School of Paris—a dialogue between emotion, matter, and light, where each ink trace becomes a space for silence and reflection. A rare opportunity to acquire an authentic and historic work by a renowned artist of the post-war Parisian scene, a direct witness to the vitality of lyrical abstraction.
