Portrait of Nata Katharina Magdalena Josepha Cavalier, painted here in December 1761 at the age of six. She was born in Vienna on March 11, 1755, where she died on June 30, 1801. She was a highly talented Austrian soprano and a muse for composers. She was the daughter of the musician and conductor Joseph Cavalier and is known, in particular, for having performed the role of Costanza in Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio. She took singing lessons from the composer Antonio Salieri, who was musical director of the Italian Opera in Vienna and was the teacher of many musicians, even famous ones.
