Pair of sauce boats on trays in solid silver – Goldsmith Delheid Frères, Brussels, late 19th century Very fine pair of sauce boats in the typically Empire style, made in 800‰ solid silver by the goldsmith Delheid Frères in Brussels, towards the end of the 19th century. Each sauce boat rests on its matching tray, the two elements being unscrewable: the bowl and the tray are connected by a central screw ending in a nut, in accordance with the tradition of high-quality goldsmith pieces. The handles, superbly sculpted in the form of imperial eagle heads, feature extremely fine chiseling: each feather is carefully detailed, reflecting all the technical mastery specific to the Delheid house. The line is pure, perfectly balanced, and the whole is decorated with a delicate chiseled frieze running along the edges. No engraving or monogram, which reinforces the sobriety and elegance of the model.
