Object description :

"Early 20th Century French Moonlit Village Oil On Panel Savoie Night Signed"
This early 20th century oil painting on wooden panel, titled "Chemin de Guicherd. Savoie Nuit," is attributed to François Charles Cachoud (1866-1943), a French master of nocturnes. While Cachoud also painted portraits and still lifes, he achieved his greatest recognition for his evocative nighttime landscapes. This captivating nocturnal scene transports the viewer to a quiet French village bathed in brilliant moonlight. A cloudless starry sky stretches overhead while trees cast mysterious shadows across whitewashed house walls. A winding country road features enigmatic reflections in a puddle, adding depth and atmosphere to the composition. Executed with confident, bold brushstrokes characteristic of early 20th century French painting, the work demonstrates the artist's masterful command of nocturnal lighting effects and atmospheric depth. The interplay of light and shadow creates a serene yet mysterious mood, exemplifying the nocturne genre at its finest.
