Beautiful luminous work by the French painter Mary Renard which represents a river bank in autumnal colors at Saint-Cénéry in Sarthe, Orne. The artist has embellished his composition with a character holding a fishing rod on the path on the left.

After the war of 1870, Mary Renard chose to go and live in Alençon.
A pupil of the Avignon painter Paul Saïn, he participated from 1880 to 1904 in the Salon des Artistes français where he presented views of the Orne and the Mayenne.
He regularly painted, throughout the seasons, the banks of the Sarthe at Saint-Cénery.
In 1910, Mary Renard became curator of the Alençon Museums and founded the Society of Friends of the Arts.

Dimensions: 38 x 55 cm without frame and 53.5 x 70 cm with an original frame in carved and gilded wood.
