Sculptor: Derenne (pseudonym of Marcel Bouraine) Elegant artistic régule sculpture representing a dancer in a graceful and expressive pose, typical of the pagan and mythological imagery often explored in Art Deco. The figure is made of art metal, coated with a nuanced dark green patina, accentuating the volumes and giving a stylized and dynamic touch to the whole. It rests on a gunmetal patinated base, whose sober and deep appearance contrasts harmoniously with the liveliness of the patina. Historical and artistic context: Marcel Bouraine (1886–1948) is an emblematic figure of French Art Deco sculpture. Under the pseudonym Derenne, he collaborated with the Max Le Verrier foundry to produce works in metal art, often characterized by their dynamism, sensuality, and refined patinas. This work is fully in line with this tradition, between modernist stylization and ancient inspiration.
