Marcel Belle attended the free academies of Montparnasse and was a student of Henri Martin. In Paris, he participated in the Salon d'Automne from 1920, the Salon des Indépendants from 1926 and the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts between 1921 and 1945, where he was admitted as an associate member in 1938. In 1937, he had a solo exhibition at the Galerie Bernheim Jeune, thus affirming his presence at the heart of the major artistic events of his time.
A painter attached to landscapes, he found an inexhaustible source of inspiration in French landscapes. His first period is marked by the influence of his master Henri Martin. Our painting is marked by this way, where the pointillist touch captures the luminous atmosphere of the Parisian garden.
