Buddha In Gilded Wood With Stone Inlays – Early 20th Century, Burma
Statue of a young standing Buddha, of Burmese origin, hand-carved in teak wood and gilded with gold leaf, enhanced with fine inlays of colored stones. His face of great finesse and his gaze imbued with serenity give him a spiritual and soothing presence. Every detail of the drapery and folds of the garment reveals the mastery of the sculptor and the nobility of the material. The Buddha is represented in the teaching mudra, holding a Myrobalan fruit, symbol of enlightenment and wisdom. A refined and harmonious piece, it brings calm and balance to any space.
