This sculpted head of Apollo is directly inspired by the famous head of Benevento kept at the Louvre Museum. Discovered in Herculaneum and made during the Greco-Roman period, this reproduction reinterprets an artistic tradition where idealization and naturalism meet. In Antiquity, the gaze of statues was a true center of expression: the eyes, often inlaid with glass paste, stone or ivory, captured the light and brought the face to life. Over the centuries, these delicate details have almost always disappeared, leaving the statues with a blank stare. Our reproduction faithfully respects this tradition by retaining inlaid eyes, thus offering a striking human attitude and exceptional realism.
