"Rest In The Meadow – Pastoral Scene, 17th Century, Louis XIV School"
Superb pastoral scene from the 17th century, depicting two sheep resting in a vast hilly landscape. In the foreground, a lying sheep and another grazing stand out against a backdrop of countryside bathed in light, in a peaceful and bucolic atmosphere. The work evokes classical French painting during the reign of Louis XIV, with great attention paid to the details of the coat, the structure of the landscape and the play of light in the sky. A harmonious and perfectly balanced composition, typical of the French school of the Grand Siècle. Signature present but illegible. Number "270" visible at the top left, probably from inventory or collection. Very beautiful antique frame in gilded wood, richly carved, in excellent condition, which fully enhances the work. Secure shipping possible or hand delivery.
