He is the painter of gypsies, sad suburbs, fortifications and suburban streets in the snow, and funfairs. He painted many scenes of the Butte Montmartre, then left Paris for Nantes. At the Salon d'Automne in 1941, he exhibited a painting entitled "Effet de neige".
