" Spanish School (c. 1900) - La Rendición De Breda (after A Masterpiece By Velázquez)"
Oil on canvas. This exquisite copy, dating from around 1900, magnificently miniaturizes the grandiose historical scene created by Diego Velázquez for the Salon de los Reyes in the Buen Retiro Palace, inspired by the bravery of Ambrosio de Spinola in recovering the key to the city, confiscated from the Dutch, from its keeper, Justino de Nassau. The superb quality of this miniature replica of Velázquez's monumental painting accurately captures every detail, from Velázquez's purported self-portrait on the far right to the blank paper that serves as the work's signature. A precious tribute to one of the most immortal references of the European Baroque. Unframed image dimensions: 51 x 42 cm / 72 x 63 cm, in a magnificent classical-style frame.
