"Messenger Box, France, 16th Century "
French messenger box from the end of the 16th century, rectangular in shape, domed lid, hasp locks. 2 holes inside allowing it to be fixed (if necessary) on a support for transport (carriage, horse-drawn carriage). Also has 4 side loops, probably for transport on horseback. The entire box is fixed by headed nails. All in metal. It has its 2 original keys, only the left lock works perfectly. The right one is difficult to close. Dimensions of this pretty box: Length 29.5 cm, Width 19.5 cm, Height 16.5 cm (at the highest point) Weight 5.7 kg.
