" Solid Silver Rock Planter Napoleon III Period"
Superb Rococo style planter, made of solid silver and richly chiseled with volutes, foliage scrolls, shells and ornate cartouches. The exuberant decoration, of great virtuosity of execution, illustrates the taste of the Second Empire for the sumptuous reinterpretation of the Louis XV style. The piece is centered by a medallion engraved with a monogram and flanked by two openwork side handles, ending in foliage scrolls. The removable interior in gilded brass, designed to accommodate floral arrangements, preserves the silver from possible alterations.
