Delamotte: Rare 18th Century Solid Silver Chocolate Pot, Louis XV Period, Paris 1767
Rare Louis XV period solid silver chocolate pot resting on three "hoof" feet with cartouche attachments. Pouring spout topped with a flap, and encircled in the middle with strong threads with below a shell framed with foliage with falling flower bud. The hinged lid ends with a movable disc (intended to let a frother pass through) topped with a spinning top button. Turned wooden side handle. Charge and Discharge hallmarks for PARIS 1762-68, Jurande hallmark for PARIS 1767 (Crowned D) and Hallmarks of Master Goldsmith Guillaume-Denis DELAMOTTE (Hallmark with the initials "GDL" and flower) received in 1756.
