Blind Man's Buff, oil on canvas, dimensions 34 cm x 27 cm, with the period carved and gilded wooden frame, 48 cm x 41 cm, French school circa 1770. In the 17th and 18th centuries, blind man's buff became a gallant game, often represented in country festivals and bucolic paintings. It became a pretext for seduction and a slight transgression of social codes.
