A large and rare rough stone of 25 grams, and a polished fragment with inclusion (a dipteran) almost 44 million years old. Eocene period.
Dimensions:
- raw amber block: 5 x 4 x 2.5 cm (Largest dimensions L x W x D) / 25 grams
- polished amber with insect: 1.8 cm long
Originally from the Cenozoic coniferous forests, which are now found under the waters of the sea, these fossil resins come up on the beaches during the strong tidal currents, mainly during the storms of autumn-winter.
Surfing on the surface of the sand of the seabed, the low density of amber is carried by the salt water.
Geologically, for a transformation into real amber, the aromatic chains are destroyed, the polymerization becomes total, the amber is a stone.
Beautiful collector's items.
