"Emile Giraud (1850-1918) Aix, The Banks Of The Arc"
Emile Giraud (1850-1918) Aix, the banks of the Arc, circa 1890, oil on canvas, 33 x 46 cm, signed and located on the reverse. Framed dimensions 45 x 59 cm.
Aix landscaper, both painter and pharmacist, contemporary of Cézanne, one of the founders of the Friends of the Arts of Aix-en-Provence. He married the daughter of the painter Joseph Villevieille. He produced landscapes imbued with a soft and poetic light "à la Corot", inspired by the Aix countryside. For the record, his works seduced the famous art dealer Georges Wildenstein who, it is said, while he was a refugee in Aix-en-Provence in 1942, filled his hotel room with works by the painter.
