An elongated baluster vase in patinated bronze, finely decorated with relief inlays in gold, silver, shakudō, bronze, and copper, attributed to the Takaoka Workshop. On both sides appear naturalistic kachō-ga scenes (birds and flowers). On one side, a bird in flight among large kiku (chrysanthemums) and other seasonal flowers; on the other, a sparrow flying among branches of botan (peonies) in full bloom.
On the sides are two handles in the form of elongated demon masks, while the vase rests on five openwork supports in an archaic zoomorphic style.
