"the Gallic Rooster", Bronze By A. Cain; Matchbox.
Artist: Auguste Cain (1821-1894)- Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892).
This magnificent rooster is perched on a woven basket and stands in full vocal exercise! during which he strongly jostled the latter. The bird is superb and seems in great shape: beautiful plumage, sharp beak and spurs. The subject poses on a bronze base bearing on its base: "F. BARBEDIENNE FONDEUR". Interesting matchbox in patinated bronze and in very good original condition.
