Santa Claus From Strasbourg

At the heart of Alsatian traditions, old lithographs of Santa Claus in red, blue or green evoke the whole magical world of the end-of-year celebrations. Produced between the 1920s and 1970s, these images often accompanied the famous gingerbread sold at the STRASBOURG CHRISTMAS MARKET. Produced in Alsace, they have today become rare witnesses of a visual and gourmet heritage that made young and old dream. The most sought-after representations remain Santa Clauses dressed in blue or green, much rarer than the classic red coat. Some unpublished pieces, such as the Santa Claus head from the 1920s or the compositions around the nativity scene from the 1950s, are real collector's items. This collection also includes images inspired by popular stories such as Robinson Crusoe, which further expanded the magical imagination offered to children. Brought together today, these lithographs form an exceptional lot celebrating the spirit of Christmas in Alsace. They poetically illustrate the memory of a time when a simple visual printed on gingerbread brought the dream and wonder of childhood, while recalling the uniqueness of the Strasbourg Christmas market, LE MONDE DE NOËL and one of the oldest and most prestigious in Europe and perhaps in the world. Sold in lots of 10 (€100) because the site does not accept below €50.
