Signed on the reverse with Ilse Claessen's initials and the Rörstrand hallmark.

Ilse Margareta Claesson (1907 - 1999), Swedish ceramicist and textile artist. From 1923 to 1928, she studied at the Slöjdföreningen School of Design and Crafts in Gothenburg. She then worked for the Rörstrand factory between 1928 and 1932, and went on to become the designer of Rörstrand's best-selling Blue and White series and the iconic Series V in green and black. In 1930, Claesson participated in the Stockholm Exhibition. A leading figure in Scandinavian ceramic design, Claesson distinguished herself through her innovative glazing techniques and her ability to infuse traditional forms with a modernist sensibility.
